why is the weather taking down all the plants and flowers? its been fairly cold lately, does anyone know why it effects them? i woke up this yesterday moring and i saw ice on vehicles and dead flowers…..what is going on? how does the cold weather have an effect on them?

Water is 1 of the only (perhaps the only) substance that is much less dense as a solid than it is as a liquid. That is why ice floats. Now, as water freezes, the molecules become more orderly, spaced apart, structured…much less dense. Fill up a container all the way with water, freeze it…you will notice the ice is above the original level. Now think about as an alternative of a container, it was a cell (plant cell, human tissue cell, etc.)…you get the picture?
